#Treatyoself This Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Gifts for You

This Valentine's Day, I don't want to be sitting around sulking about being single, because to be honest, I'm moving on swiftly and surely without looking back whatsoever (I can do a blog post update if you all want). Instead, I think it's the perfect time to #treatyoself to a few fantastic items. These have made it from my Christmas list onto a new list of things I would like or need to purchase. "Need to purchase." Ha! Anyway, I think one or two of these items may make their way into an online shopping cart this Valentine's Day.

~~~~~~~~
1 / Archie Grand "Met and Liked" Notebook - These notebooks are simply the cutest! I love all the different phrases on the front and don't know if I could even pick one. I love journaling, and hope to continue more even though my semester will be busy. When I finally finish up the current journal I'm using, this one is the next on my list.
2 / Nike Pro 3" Compression Shorts - These shorts are the perfect thing for dancing and working out. I love having them on hand to wear at rehearsals and practices, and even lounging around my room when it's warm out. They are so bright and colorful. I think they make a great statement, and are fashionable but also practical.
3 / Aerie Bralette - I'm looking into getting a few of these to wear under loose shirts at parties. The lacy floral detailing is so girly and I think that wearing a cute bralette like this can instantly make any girl feel confident and beautiful.
4 / MAC Lipstick in Saint Germain - This color can be somewhat intimidating because it's so bright and very, very pink. However, I think that this is so fun and can be worn into the warmer months when dark lipsticks aren't in season. I'm looking for a dupe of this lipstick, but I can't find anything that compares. This color is just spectacular!
5 / Daniel Wellington Watch - I'm a huge fan of watches. I wear my rose gold Michael Kors one almost every single day, and have found it to be incredibly useful. This beautiful watch with a chestnut brown leather band is less chunky than the typical metal boyfriend style watch that is popular right now, and I am really digging it! I think that with certain outfits, the leather band fits perfectly. I hope to expand my collection with a watch like this soon. What is your favorite type of watch?
6 / Vineyard Vines Croakies - Now that I have a pair of RayBans, I think that croakies are an absolute must! I have this constant fear that they will fall off my head or blow away haha. Vineyard Vines croakies are the perfect way to keep my glasses on my face or around my neck. This summer these will be the first thing that goes into my beach bag!
7 / Marley Lilly Monogrammed Baseball Hat - I already have one of these incredible hats in Navy/Pink, but I have always adored the Lemon color. I'm thinking of this with a light blue monogram. On the beach, this will look so cute and cheery. And I think the yellow color will complement my brown hair nicely.
8 / White Chuck Taylor All Stars Converse - I have an old pair of Converse that are getting super old and dirty, and I think the white pair is the perfect replacement. Fashion bloggers wear these all the time, and I can't get enough. They look fantastic with all sorts of outfits, from casual sundresses to cutoff shorts to jeans with a nice sweater. I cannot wait to get my hands on these!
9 / Marley Lilly Monogrammed Ring - I have wanted one of these for a while. The concept of signet rings is adorable to me, and I have wanted one for a very long time. After seeing Emma's monogrammed ring from Etsy, I decided I absolutely want one. This option from Marley Lilly is a great pricepoint, and will look so cute on!
10 / Essie Nail Polish in Spin the Bottle - This color is currently on my nails, and if I could only wear it, I probably would. It's the perfect nude because it doesn't have a gray or brown undertone, but pink instead. I have been searching high and low for this polish, and am having no luck! If anyone finds it somewhere, please shoot me a message or leave me a comment below, I would be forever grateful!
11 / Fraternity Collection Shirt - A Frat Collection shirt has been on my list for a while now. I'm super obsessed with the various pockets! This Betsy one is fun and patriotic, and the Reagan is cute too if you're feeling bold. I also love that the company donates a portion of the proceeds to a charity of your choice; it's a very unique thing to see on a company's website and makes me feel so much better about purchasing.
12 / Patagonia Snap T Pullover - Can we stop for a minute and talk about this coral/blue combo? It's perfect! Normally I would be hesitant to buy a Patagonia in such a bright color, since it may not be as wearable, but I fell in love with this one the second I saw it on the website! Patagonia's are everything you could want in a sweatshirt, and they seem to be a staple on my college campus. If you're looking for something less bulky and a bit more fitted, I would also recommend the Vineyard Vines Shep Shirts.
Happy Friday! (An Update on Life)
WHAT'S CRACKALACKIN EVERYBODY?!
Sorry I'm so hyped, but this was my first week back at school so I still have a wee bit of energy left in me, although by the look of me laying on my bed while typing this, I'm a lot more tired than I'm letting myself admit.
This coming Sunday starts recruitment, and I could not be happier! I'm really looking forward to the entire process, and can't wait to share my home with my family, friends, and of course, followers. It's going to be a crazy tiring week, since there are some days where we have six straight hours of parties.
I guess that means I have to get ahead on my schoolwork, right?
I've been trying to get a lot done this week, since mostly in class we are going over lots of basics and don't have as much work yet. I'm sure that it's going to pick up in no time at all, and with dance, recruitment, and the weather warming up as we move toward finals, I know that I'm going to have to plan my time well and push forward in order to enjoy all the fun stuff as well.
I'm taking a lot of intro level classes this semester, which can be seen as a good or bad think. It's a lot of basics; dipping my toes into pools of various topics. In some ways, it's not as intense as my last semester, since I took a writing course in the fall and, to put it in the words of my roommate, "even when there's no homework, there's always an essay to be done."
I must say, however, that I am really enjoying how interconnected my classes are. I have to take Microeconomics for my major (more on that in a later blog post), and it's simultaneously very similar to the Business class that I am taking (for a minor). On top of it all, the Business class often talks about society and how we must alter the market to please the people and what they want - which ties in perfectly with the Social Psychology class I'm taking as well. Combine that with Sustainability classes and the Statistics class that I took in high school last year, and I'm really amazed at how interwoven all my classes seem to be. I'm glad about it - everything is more applicable and easier to grasp when I can see how it relates in other areas of the world.
On another note, we were supposed to get snow here in Baltimore, but the forecast keeps changing and it looks like we are not getting any snow after all. My little sister, on the other hand, had an early dismissal, a day off, and a delayed opening all in the same week, further north. I guess it's somewhat disappointing since a day off of classes would have been nice, but maybe if I'm super lucky the weather will get nicer (and warmer) this week for recruitment!
This post didn't have much of a point, but right now that's all that's going on in the world of me. How about you? What have you been up to?
Favorite New Arrivals @ Lilly + Pants Obsession
Hey there!
It's been a little while since I last posted something, probably about a week. That's because I'm back at school now, and there is just so much hustle and bustle going on. This coming week is Sorority Rush (which I'm super pumped about and can't wait to share with you all), as well as getting back into the swing of things with classes, dance, and social life! And also my sleep schedule. I really need to get back into the swing of things.
So when I got this email today from Lilly informing me of all their new spring items, I couldn't resist but to stop what I was doing and take a peek.
Lilly New Arrivals
Honestly I cannot get enough of Palazzo pants recently. These Georgia May pants from Lilly are absolutely stunning; I'm obsessed with the pattern and think they look really comfy, especially with a tank top and some wedges in the summer.
The Linen Beach Pants are similar, but obviously made of a more casual material and are meant for wearing on the beach, instead of out and about.
I can't believe I just explained that linen beach pants are made from linen and should be worn on the beach. Go me.
Honestly though, the first time I saw them was through a Tumblr post, and the girl was wearing them similarly to how I described before, with a tank and wedges. I didn't even know they were beach pants at all! This blue starfish print is really great, and my other favorite is Don't Be Shellfish.
I know that a lot of people have disliked Lilly's patterns lately, but I actually really like "In The Vias." I think that the soft blue background and the pink and green leaves are really girly and spring-y, plus the longer sleeves on the Charlene dress make it a great transition piece for when there's still a slight chill or wind.
On My Radar + New Purchases
Howdy people of the Interwebs! What could possibly be better than a post telling you about the things I've bought and am planning to buy? You get to live vicariously through me and my shopping addiction without having to spend your own money. Mwahahaha. I'll be sitting here looking into my wallet and sobbing.
But enough of that mopey stuff - I bought some thingies and I'm really pumped about them.
The first two items I got are from C. Wonder. They are currently going out of business and are having major deals on their website! At first, the entire store was 50% off, but now things have progressed to being 75% off. I seriously couldn't pass this up.
As much as I wanted the Stubbs and Wooton Screw U Loafers (see this blog post), I had to be realistic about things. $450 for a pair of shoes is just not happening for this college gal. But when I saw these Kiss Me loafers on the website for just $37, I knew I had to have them. Gotta put a positive spin on things, right? Kiss Me sounds a lot better than Screw U, amirite?
While I was on the site, I decided to browse housewares. I normally wouldn't even look at this section, but figured there might be an awesome deal since everything was 75% off. Boy I was right. Among the cutting boards and trinket trays I found the monogrammed mug in my initial for $3. They still have a few left in select letters! (Having a name that starts with V has its perks)
Today I stopped by some outlet stores before I head back to school on Thursday. I needed a new cosmetic bag, and I knew that Vera Bradley would have exactly what I was looking for. I don't love Vera Bradley all the time, since it can be rather overwhelming, but they carry a lot of great practical pieces that are hard to find elsewhere.
This cosmetic bag is in the print Ribbons, and was on sale for only $12 (60% off the whole outlet store, wahoo!). I like the large cosmetic bag because it can fit lots of makeup brushes, larger sized cosmetics and toiletries, and my Lorac Pro Palette!
Laugh at me when I tell you the next thing, but I got four (yes that's f-o-u-r, 4, IV, cuatro) of the Smartphone Wristlet. Now let me explain: Vera is redoing their Smartphone Wristlet, and the new design doesn't have a nifty card slot on the back. The card holder is still there, but it's on the inside. Now that is just a big, ole, giant, fat NO NO on my end. At Hopkins, we have to swipe into our dorms, the dining hall, and lots of other buildings. I need to have my ID handy at all times, so the ID slot on the outside is a must for me. I stocked up in the following prints: Jazzy Blooms, Heather, Midnight Blues, and Suzani.
While I was at the outlets, I stopped by the Hunter outlet and tried on some rainboots! The pair I have now is great, but I find that they are relatively loose around my calves. The Hunters fit much tighter, and are a lot more neutral than the houndstooth pair I own now. I'm thinking of either Red or Hunter Green, but I haven't picked anything out yet. At least I know what my proper size is!
WHICH ONE WILL WIN?!?!?!
Among other things, I also am really into the Kate Spade phone cases! I was at their outlet store as well and found some that are so adorable, but unfortunately won't fit my phone. Most cases now are made for the iPhone 5/5s and 6, or the Galaxy S4. I have the Galaxy S3, and so most of the cases for the phone have come and gone. I found this interesting case on Amazon, but haven't made any purchases yet. Anyone know of any good places to buy S3 cases?
Welp that's all for Victoria and the Adventures of Spending Too Much Money. Talk to you guys later!
Breakers Gonna Break...
Well I still have an entire week left of my winter break. It's sorta weird because everyone has been back at school for a while, and then there's all these Hopkins students sitting at home waiting to come back (or taking classes over our winter session!).
As you all know, I spent the beginning of my break dealing with a breakup, and I wasn't sure that I wanted to go back to school. I love being at home with my sister and mom, and it's much easier to talk to them when I'm home than over the phone (this past semester was the first time I ever got a text alert saying I had used 95% of my minutes LOL).
Even though my brother headed back today to build a car with the Baja club, I'm staying at home until Thursday and spending the last few days of break relaxing and enjoying myself. This past weekend a few of my brother's friends came up to see New York, and we had such a great time!
I saw more of New York City than I ever have before. Even though I live so close to the city, I don't go in very often, and I really loved exploring with my brother and his California-born roommate.
We got to see:
  • Madison Square Garden
  • Empire State Building
  • Bryant Park
  • Ray's Pizza
  • Carnegie Deli
  • Times Square
  • Toys R Us
  • Carnegie Hall
  • Lincoln Center
  • Central Park
  • and about 20 Starbucks
It was such a great trip and I'm so happy that our friends got to spend the weekend with us. Not much else has been going on right now, but I'm looking forward to seeing where all of my friends end up in Greek life tonight! I'm crossing my fingers that my bestie at Tulane gets the house she wanted, and that the Tumblr world explodes with Greek goodness tonight.
My recruitment starts in 2 weeks, and I'm beyond excited! Most of my close friends are rushing, and I'm really pumped about the whole experience. If you want to check out what I'll be wearing, follow me on my Tumblr or take a look at this blog post.
That's all for my little daily ramble. Hope everyone is having a great time back at school!
GUESS What?
It's kind of amazing that sometimes you find a brand that you really connect with. For me, there are a few different brands that I love for different things. American Eagle for jeans. Jessica Simpson for boots. For dresses, it's GUESS.
I don't know what it is about their dresses, but somehow whenever I'm looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, they have it.
It all started with this really fantastic faux leather and lace black dress. I bought it last winter and have worn it to so many events since! It's one of my favorites because it is classic, but still has a few unexpected details.
Here's how I wore it to three different events:
{cruise formal night}
{sweet sixteen}
{winter soiree}
I love this dress because I can do so many different things with my makeup and accessories. I have done neutral makeup, bright lips, dark lips, and a smokier evening look all wearing this dress. I also like changing it up by wearing my hair in a ponytail or half up as opposed to simply down.
~ ~ ~ ~
When it came time to look for dresses for rush, particularly white ones, I knew GUESS wouldn't let me down. I spotted this tulip dress on the Bloomingdale's website and later on found it at Lord and Taylor for a great price! My mom and sister think this dress is sort of "space age-y" but that's what I like about it. The sleeves are fluttery and open along the shoulder, and the draping on the skirt is especially flattering. The draping is the same on the back of the dress and I am absolutely in love with it!
On another shopping trip, I came across this second white dress. This one is also unique because of the shoulder padding and the strappy-ness. I also find that this dress looks great even though it hits slightly lower, closer to the knee. There was only one in store when I found it, and even thought it was two sizes too big, I brought it to my (awesome) tailor and she was able to work some fashion magic on it.
Since I was out looking for dresses for rush, my mom and I both realized that I will be needing a lot of dresses to wear to date parties and formals. I don't have that many dresses with me at school right now, and a lot of them are too fancy to bring with me to college (see below).
{This dress is lovely on, but the fabric and fit make it too fancy for school events, plus it needs to be dry cleaned!
The brand is ABS by Allen Schwartz}
 I found these two other dresses, and wasn't so surprised when I checked the label and they both said GUESS. This first one, while black, is fun because it has a polka dot illusion neckline, and ruching on the front and back. I really love it and think it looks awesome on!
I was inspired to get a dress of this sort ever since I saw a polka dot La Femme dress in the prom catalogs last year and fell in love. I would have loved to wear something like this one to prom (see below).
{The La Femme prom dress I loved!}
I'm really happy that now I have a dress with a similar look. The last dress I picked up was this snakeskin one. My mom actually picked it out and thought that it would be perfect for clubby events or going out with friends. I really like the cutout on the chest and think it looks great on! Plus it's nice to have some long sleeve dresses for when it's colder outside.
I am honestly amazed at how many great picks I got all from the same brand. I "guess" it really goes to show that sometimes there are certain brands that just work for me. And of course, it's always nice to know ahead of time that if I buy a dress, it will most likely fit perfectly because I know what size I need. I can't wait to keep shopping GUESS for a long time and build up a sturdy dress collection full of pieces I love. I'm so glad that GUESS makes dresses that I find to be classy and fit my style, but also fun and a bit edgy. I love being able to change it up and not box myself in to having one defined look.
Boys Go To Jupiter
I've been thinking a lot about whether or not I wanted to write a blogpost about my recent break up. It was undeniably the three years that were the best, most difficult, and most inspiring years of my life. I've learned so much from them. I'm still so young. And I feel incredibly well equipped to face my future.
I also spent a lot of time so far over break (yay for having two weeks left!) wondering if I should write about my "resolutions" for the new year. Every blogger seems to be doing some variation on these posts, and I thought it might be a good idea to hop on the bandwagon.
But this is blogging, and it's not about the bandwagon. It's about sharing my life, my experiences, and having something useful to look back on. Why should I sit here and tell you that I'm gonna go to the gym when I know I'm not? Why should I vow to eat more vegetables and cut out the ice cream when that's not really what I want to be blogging about?
I woke up this morning and realized that I wasn't going to benefit from telling you all my "resolutions" that are just the same as everyone else's. And I didn't want to drown you all by talking about my relationship, because some things are better kept private and if I feel the time is right, I'll fill y'all in.
So, today! Here's what I have planned. My fifteen (for 2015 because I still wanted to tie it in somehow) kickass reasons why being single is okay and why it's gonna be aaaaawesome!
Let's get started, shall we?
TIMELESSPREP'S 15 REASONS WHY BEING SINGLE IS THE BOMB DIGGITY
1 //  I'm not tied down to anyone. I can go to bed without texting someone, wake up without texting someone, and I'm only responsible for myself.
2 // I can go out to parties and not be worried that there's someone three hours away worrying (or not worrying) about me.
3// I can wear lipstick all the ding dang time and no one can complain about it.
4 // I get to talk about cute college boys with my friends and not feel guilty.
5 // I can spend time finding out who I really am, what I'm really interested in, and what I want out of life.
6 // I can dedicate more time to my studies without being distracted by texts.
7 // I get to meet all new people by rushing and hopefully joining a Greek chapter, and going to formals!
8 // I can hang out with my guy friends and really get to know them better.
9 // I get to treat myself to Valentine's day presents and chocolate ;)
10 // I can dress however I want without someone questioning "who really decides what fashion is."
11 // I can reconnect with my girlfriends since we lost touch over the years.
12 // When my friends have boy problems, I can give them experienced advice and not be stressed about my own guy.
13 // I will indulge in myself and make myself a priority.
14 // I know the characteristics I don't like in a guy and can learn from my past mistakes.
15 // There is someone out there who will treat me better, and I have all the time in the world to find him.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Well there ya have it, folks. My fifteen reasons why boys are stoopid and I'm excited to be single! Here's some Tumblr inspiration for good measure:
I hope that this post can help even some of you out a little bit. Remember, that you do not need to be perfect all the time, It is okay to give yourself space and grow apart from things that are no longer good for you. Design your life just the way you want, so you can wake up everyday and love what you're doing. If that means removing a toxic boy, let him go. I promise everything will be okay in the end.
// Why do you love being single? Feel free to comment below or message me on Tumblr if you ever need advice! I'll answer messages privately if you sent them off anon. //
December/January Top Ten
Hopefully I can start doing monthly favorites posts, but for starters I wanted to highlight some items that I'm hoping will carry me through the new year.
{Click the photos for links!}
1 // Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Holy mother of Pearl this is my favorite product of all time. I have really dry skin and have gone through tons of products to try and fix it. I like using this on my hands, but found that it was too thick to put on my face. The skin on my forehead, nose, cheeks and around my mouth tends to get dry, and I wanted a lightweight formula that would keep my skin feeling moist and fresh without acting like a heavy mask. This does exactly that because it has a gel consistency that doesn't weigh my face down. I had tried a sample size of this which my mom had given me and after a few days, I noticed an incredible difference. I ran out at the beginning of the semester, and knew I had to get my hands on this again over break. I am so happy I'm back to using it; I apply it twice a day for soft, glowy skin.
2 // Stubbs and Wooton Screw U Loafers
I think this are honestly the most hilarious things I've ever seen. I could totally picture wearing these cheeky loafers with an oxford shirt and distressed boyfriend jeans, not having a care in the world what anyone thinks about me. Especially as a new member of the Single Ladies Club, these loafers have made their way onto my dream wardrobe list, and maybe one day I'll have saved up enough to splurge on these $450 (yikes!) velvet beauties.
3 // Essie Nail Polish in Take it Outside
I went into the nail salon the other day looking for a color I wouldn't normally pick up. I originally had wanted Chinchilly for Christmas, but didn't get it. I browsed through a few gray-ish, taupe-ish looking shades and sampled them on my nails before deciding which color I wanted them painted with. The other polish I chose was too brown, but this cool toned gray was exactly what I wanted. After a few days of wear, it has an awesome pinkish undertone and I think it's really something spectacular. I love this as my new winter neutral color, along with Spin the Bottle as my spring and summer nude fave. These two will hopefully be making their way back to campus with me in two weeks.
4 // Taylor Swift 1989 Album Delux Edition (Exclusive for Target)
Call me basic, but this album is my entire life. I don't think I'll get tired of Shake it Off or Blank Space no matter how many times I hear them on the radio - and I love Style, All You Had to do Was Stay, and How You Get the Girl as well. I have not a single bad thing to say about Taylor, and I'm loving her new look. It's super inspiring to know that she is happy without a guy, and I am coming back to campus full-on TSwizzle mentality and can't wait. Also her fashion is just so on point now, and I love getting inspo from her!
5 // Meg Leopard Pumps from Target
There are two great things about these heels. One: that they look just like the Etta pumps from J. Crew for only a small portion of the price, and Two: that toopreppytofuction, or Courtney, wears them all the time. I first saw these taking center stage in Courtney's instagram posts and fell in love when I found out I could get J. Crew inspired fashion for a small fee. I purchased these while home for Thanksgiving, and found them waiting for me under the tree when I returned for Christmas. I've already wore them once to a family get-together, and plan on rocking them more and more as the weather warms up!
6// How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
I have heard a ton of great things about this book, and I'm about to start reading it. It's meant for business people and speaks to a wide audience, but I think that it will be equally beneficial in my personal and professional lives. I'll let you all know how it goes once I get into it, but from what I've heard so far - I highly recommend!
7 // Kate Spade Hanna Berkeley Lane Crossbody Bag in Porcelain
I got this bag for Christmas and have been wearing it literally everywhere. I mean that. It's the perfect size, it's classic, and it doesn't weigh you down. I can fit so much in it but still have room for more, and it goes with just about any outfit. The only downside to this is that I wouldn't want to take it out to parties with me, but for running errands or hopping and bopping around campus, this bag takes the cake for being my new favorite.
8// Steve Madden Whysper Booties in Black
These came in the mail yesterday and I'm already in love! I have a great pair of tan booties that I wear all the time, but I've found myself wishing I had a black pair every once in a while to wear with darker colors and not break up the line of my outfit. Since I'm super short (only 5'0") I need to be careful about not cutting off my legs and making myself appear even smaller. These boots are perfect and I can't wait to start breaking them in!
9 // Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry
I wrote a blog post last month about my obsession with darker lip colors and my concerns about wearing them, but I've come to realize that I actually rock a dark lip. It makes me look older, feel more sophisticated, and have a badass, I-can-take-on-the-world attitude. This is the darkest of the three shades I bought, and it's my favorite of them all. I totally see myself running through tube after tube, and I can't say I'm even mad about it. Bring it on, Lorde.
10 // Lilly Pulitzer x Target
Say what you want, but I'm honestly excited for the Lilly and Target collaboration. People are all kinds of shocked that this is happening, but Target pairs with major designers all the time, and I'm always impressed with the outcome. So yeah, this won't be your re-donk-ulously expensive collab full of the classic Lilly shifts and such, but look on the bright side. Limited edition. Brand new prints. Exclusive items. Home decor. Dorm decor. Accessories. If Lilly Pulitzer had sent out an email saying those exact words, we would be cheering and jumping for joy. But somehow, all of a sudden, the addition of the word "Target" makes the world stop spinning. I think what they're doing is great, and may even purchase a few clothing pieces from the line myself, because I believe in supporting Lilly, whatever endeavors we find the company in.
Wear This, Not That: Double Pearl Earrings
Hi guys (:
Today I'm coming atcha with a new type of post, talking about getting all the look for a lot less buck. I adore the look of the Baublebar 360 Pearl studs, but I knew that my small face and frame might make them look weird on me.
I wanted to test them out, but didn't want to spend a whole lot on earrings that may look absolutely horrendous. Lucky me was gifted a pair for Christmas, and I am impressed with how great they look on. At the same time, I received another awesome pair of double pearl earrings from Lightinthebox.com, and they look incredibly similar.
left (c/o) | right (not available online, similar here) }
See what I mean?
Honestly, while I love the pair I was given for the holidays, I think that the Lightinthebox ones are so similar that you don't need to spend a ton on the earrings. Especially if you are looking to test out a new trend without committing, the Lightinthebox earrings are perfect!
Make sure to check out the earrings and give them a try! Lightinthebox is seriously such a great website, and everything is cute. I have tons more posts coming up featuring Lightinthebox products, so be sure to keep an eye out.
C.Wonder SALE!
Bring on the sales, y'all! Recently I found out that C.Wonder is completely shutting down, which is super sad. Even though I didn't shop at C.Wonder a lot and felt that some of the items were very expensive, I really loved the style of all their clothes and accessories.
The other day I wandered onto the C.Wonder site and found out that everything on their site is 50% off. FIFTY PERCENT OFF. Whoa. Like take a deep breath, there. I know that's crazy.
I was kinda shocked when I saw that on the site, but it all makes sense now that the company is shutting down. Anyway, I picked out some of my favorite items that are on the website now, since I love a good sale and feel like I might as well take advantage of it!
Rushing Around
Howdy howdy howdy folks! There has been so much talk on Tumblr recently about how to dress for rush when it's the dead of winter. Lots of girls have moved up north for school this year, and while they love everything else about it, they just can't seem to shake the cold. So much for Elsa and "the cold never bothered me anyway," because it sure as heck bothers them.
When I realized I would need lots of cold weather things for rush this year, I honestly wasn't too shocked. Maybe it's because I've been dressing up for all the winter holidays in the Northeast cold since I was a wee lass, but it didn't take long for me to figure out what kinds of outfits I would wear during recruitment.
My school has three rounds of recruitment and then Bid Day, so it's not as fancy shmancy as some other schools might be. But hey, I'm still excited.
Round 1 of Rush
Our first round is casual. For this, I would wear something as if I wanted to look nice for class. I recommend wearing a button down under a nice warm sweater, and a vest on top for a warm and cozy look that can take you from class right to a night of activities and getting to know the sisters! I would pair this with boots since you'll be on your feet a lot, and added the 360 pearl earrings as a discreet statement piece. With a crossbody bag to tote around the bare essentials, this look will be perfect when I visit all five houses on the first night.
Round 2 of Rush
On our second night of rush, all the PNMs visit 4 houses. The dress code for this Philanthropy/Theme Night is business casual (or formal... honestly they haven't posted too much info about it yet). Either way, I think that wearing a pair of patterned trousers with a crisp white blouse will stand out. I figure most girls will be in some type of skirt, but an interesting pant will make you stand out in a crowd! Simple pearls, a watch, and a blingy necklace complete this look perfectly. You can always tone it down by ditching the necklace, but it's better to be overdressed than underdressed for this kind of event.
Round 3 of Rush
For preference night, most girls wear black dresses. I wanted to make sure that I could be picked out in a crowd, and I found this adorable blue and black patterned dress. It has a V cut neck and a scalloped hem, so it's definitely going to be different. I was with one of my best friends when I bought it just to make sure that it didn't do any weird gapping - gotta keep things appropriate for rush (you're not trying to meet guys, remember that!). I couldn't find the exact dress I bought when searching around online, so I picked out something similar and paired it with simple black pumps and of course, Kendra Scott.
Round 4 of Rush
My university requests that all PNMs wear white dresses on Bid Day. After looking at a lot of last year's Bid Day photos, I developed a serious loathing for lace. I just can't stand the look of it anymore, especially when it looks like everyone went to the nearest Forever 21 rack of summer dresses and picked one out. Once again, I wanted something that was going to make me stand out, and I think this Guess dress is it! It doesn't scream "summer" too directly, so it will work mid-February or any other time of the year. I want to keep things fairly simple, so I'll throw on a pair of nude pumps, and brighten my look with these awesome BaubleBar earrings (you can get them for $12 currently!). I'm beyond excited for the dress and earrings to arrive at my doorstep. Cross your fingers and toes for me that the dress fits perfectly.
20/20: Freshman Fall
It seems as though every elder I've ever met has spewed the "hindsight is 20/20" wisdom on me. Even when I get tired of hearing it, I have to take that step back and realize that it really holds true no matter what the situation.
This first semester of college has been nothing less than a whirlwind, a tidal pool of one hundred and one things happening all at once. Too bad it wasn't one hundred and one dalmatians - that would have been much easier to manage.
Within the first month of school I had gotten a new roommate, joined two dance teams, and met some really cool people. I learned that one of my close friends owns a non-profit, that even good dining hall food can get boring, and that you can, and you will, take fast showers no matter how long you used to indulge at home.
The first semester was really unique for me, because I found out that college is a heck of a lot harder than high school, despite the many students who would disagree with that fact. I've never had so much control over when I sleep, when I wake up, and what I make out of my day. I took classes that pushed my limits and encouraged me to pursue things I'm interested in, like Jane Austen. *cue the chorus of sighs and distaste for the poor old lady*
On the other hand, I took a linguistics class that explored how children learn language. I had thought about a linguistics major, and decided completely AGAINST it, but somehow I have still managed to refer back to knowledge from that class, especially with my one-year-old cousin and my little sister, who is just starting to learn her foreign language (Spanish) in school. I guess even unexpected things can be useful once in a while.
This post doesn't have a ton of substance to it, and I know I'm kind of rambling about a whole lot of nothing which you may, or may not, care about one bit. I guess all I have to say is that I'm on my way, and it's going to be an awesome ride.
