Winter Whites

Winter Whites

sunglasses // earrings // bucket bag // watch // necklace // lipstick

Not wearing white after Labor Day seems like a silly idea to me. A while back I used to stick to it for the sake of tradition and because people can be #judgy, but who cares! I love the way white looks in the winter paired against a crisp, snowy backdrop. I've wanted a white peacoat or winter jacket for years and it took some solid convincing that there was no way it could stay as white as I would like, but I'm determined that in time, I'll add a white peacoat to my wardrobe. In the meantime, I'll stick to these classic white jeans and add some depth to the look with a think knit sweater and suede booties! How do you wear white in the winter?

My Favorite Things: Leather Sneakers

Hi there guys! This past weekend was soooo busy and I unfortunately didn't get to draft as many blog posts as I wanted, so I'm coming to you with a quick post today.

While I didn't have a ton of time to write up posts, I did however see some friends, and I fell IN LOVE with the leather slip on sneakers my friend Mary has been wearing a ton recently! I think they're so chic and the perfect mix between an edgier look and a classic style. Check out my favorites below and see how I would style them!

Working What You Own: Halloween 2015

Halloween 2015

Hey everyone! Halloween is just about a week away, which means it's time to pull our your under-the-bed storage bin of wacky costume pieces and put together your look. But the best part is, that you can create so many great costumes by turning to the actual clothes you wear on a daily basis!! I love coming up with new ways to wear outfits, and Halloween is no exception. Here's the simple but still cute looks I'll be sporting this Halloween.

Pebbles
This Flintstone gal's look is easy to recreate with a leopard print dress, some tan heels or sandals, and your hair in a super high half up half down. For added flair, get a bone clip to attach to your pony!

Lifeguard
A simple pair of white Soffe shorts (a middle school standard), Rainbow flip flops, and a red bathing suit or leotard can make this look in a flash. Borrow a whistle from one of your sporty friends to toss around your neck.

Sandy from Grease
I wore this look to a social the other night and didn't even realize how closely I resembled Sandy. Leather leggings or black jeans, an off-the-shoulder top, and some killer black stilettos make this look simple and oh-so-cute. Of course, don't forget the classic red lip for a finishing touch!

Hippie
Another standard Halloween costume, this one is easy to amp up due to the recent 70s inspired trends. Pull on a pair of flares with your favorite floral or tie dye crop top, and rock some tan platform heels and round sunnies with your outfit.

Cowgirl
Who doesn't love a flannel in the fall?! Pair a cute flannel with some Daisy Duke shorts and cowboy boots for an easy Halloween look. If you're feeling a little more ~scandy~ for a college party, leave the flannel unbuttoned or tied at the waist with a black bralette on underneath.

What are you planning to be for Halloween this year? I absolutely love dressing up for this holiday!!

Let's Get Social

Hi there guys! Today's post is going to be another quick one - I have my last midterm today and so I'll finally be "free" this afternoon to start working on more blogposts and getting ahead on life again, but for now I wanted to remind you about all the awesome ways you can follow The Scalloped Edge wherever you are!
For starters, I absolutely love posting on my Instagram account! Instagram is a great way for y'all to see what I'm doing in life and what I'm up to outside of blogging.

I really like using Facebook to let everyone know when my posts are live and I'm trying to think of other creative ways to use it too. How would you use Facebook as a blogger?

Bloglovin is great if you're another blogger or just someone who likes to read blogs regularly; it will let you know when all your favorite bloggers upload posts and you can save them to read later!

And my newest craze, which I'm just getting into is Pinterest! I really like Pinterest because I can make boards that keep my "likes" organized, so if I'm ever looking back for a recipe or craft that I want to try, I know exactly where to find it!! This is my new favorite tool *heart eyes emoji*

Give me a follow on all these accounts and be sure to head over to my Tumblr if you don't already follow me on there - I do most of my social media work through Tumblr!! I'm hoping to do a giveaway when I get to 20,000 Tumblr followers, and every follow on other social media accounts will help as well!

Happy hump day!

Life Update

Hi there everyone!! Time for a short life update - I just came back to school after three days at home during Fall Break, so I apologize for the lack of posting this weekend. I finished up my extremely heavy midterm period, so I'm hoping to get back to blogging soon. I had a huge reservoir of posts that is now getting low, so it's time for me to pump out a ton of posts and be prepared to blog through the holidays!

For everyone going through midterms - you can do it!! We're all in this together, and your hard work will pay off. Who else was on Fall Break this weekend or last? Did you do any fun fall activities with your families and friends?
