Winter Break Bucket List 2015

One of the best parts of winter break in college is that you get to spend more time at home than normal, which also means lots of extra time to do all sorts of fun things! I'm so thankful for a nice relaxing break before I have to head back to school, although my winter session yoga class should be a ton of fun too!

How To: Dress for the New Year with Style

The New Year is just around the corner, and one of the best parts of this time of year is dressing up for a great New Year's Eve party! Here are my best tips for making a strong impression for the New Year and dressing to perfection.

ONE | Leather - You can't go wrong with something a bit edgy but classic, like leather leggings. They add just the right touch of festive to your party look.

TWO | Velvet - The New Year begs for a warm, wintry fabric like velvet. This off the shoulder dress keeps the holiday spirit bright and is oh so elegant. For men, try a fancy Velvet Jacket Tuxedo like this one from The Black Tux.

THREE | Fringe - Fringe has been all the rage this fall and winter, so there's no reason why you can't add it to your holiday look. This dark green skirt from H&M is perfect for a night watching the ball drop, and won't break the bank! Pair it with some black swiss dot tights for an extra fun look.

FOUR | Fur - Pom poms are the newest trend in fur, and they add a playful touch wherever they're added, especially on shoes! These heels are glam and totally on trend, so you'll stand out at your New Year's party!

FIVE | Gold hardware - Another classic is gold hardware. On bags, shoes, clothes and jewelry, you can't go wrong with something gold this holiday season. Dress up your party clutch with gold  accents and you can't go wrong!

SIX | Beading - A fun top decked out in sparkles and sequins is a must have for holiday parties. This Topshop cropped blouse has enough structure to be dressed up for a more fancy event, but is still youthful and trendy.

SEVEN | Embellishments - #treatyoself this holiday season with a pair of investment heels. You'll be sure to wear these embellished pumps forever, and they match any outfit!

EIGHT | Feathers - A feathered frock is such a fun way to make an statement at this year's New Year party! Stick to a basic color like black and let the feathers do the talking. Add some glam dangly earrings for more pizzazz.

Nine | Emerald - A nice holiday color like emerald is great for gowns, if you'll be attending a more formal or black-tie affair. Again, stick to a simple shape and amp up your look with accessories and bling.

If you're looking for formal menswear this holiday season, be sure to check out The Black Tux for your tuxedo rental! What are you doing this New Year's Eve?

Coming Home

So it's 12:30 AM and I still have a week of finals ahead of me. As I sit here wondering how I wasted an entire day that could have been put toward productive studying, I can't help but thinking about everything that has happened in the past year, and about how much I can't wait to be home.

Last fall semester, I returned home to an inevitable breakup and spent an awful lot of time questioning what direction my life would have taken if things didn't go the way they had. My whole first semester of college seems like a blur, and aside from classes and dance, I can't say that it was utterly eventful. I was going through the motions because I had plans back home, and while I'm thankful for everything that relationship taught me, I was being held back.

For months I kept telling myself that if I could just make it sorority recruitment, things would work out for the better. I would find my group of friends. It would be easier to do things. I would have a place where I belonged and could shine and feel on top of the world. And then recruitment came, and all that I knew to be good and true seemed to disappear. The plan, the path that I convinced myself would lead me to happiness, was shifted, and the ground gave out beneath my feet. I will never be able to fully thank the two incredible souls who cried it out with me on Bid Night, because the words I will never forget are "if we're going to do this, we're doing it together."

Saturday, the 19th of December, officially marks one year of being single, and I have learned more about myself in the past year than I ever have before. I've become more positive, developed a "take no one's crap" attitude, and made myself a leader. I am dancing my heart away, choreographing pieces, and finally feeling contentment in that group of friends. I am heading the online media for my sorority (#LeadingWomen), am on as many committees as I can fit in, and have realized that Kappa Alpha Theta is exactly where I am supposed to be. I don't think I've ever had a better year.

I've also realized that there are two types of homes. Whenever I come back to New Jersey, I feel this warm sense of security and family, the way you feel after a long vacation. It smells the same as it always did, and it looks the same (except for that new addition, lol), and it reminds me of times bygone. I look at my bedroom the same way I look at my mother's room when I visit my grandma - a standstill time capsule of a life that once was. It no longer feels like my room, it feels like it only belongs to my younger self. Like a memory of a past life.

Today, home means something different. Home is finding friends in my major who are just as passionate about sustainability and climate as I am. Home is having someone who will wake you up on registration day and blast Christmas music with you the second Halloween ends. It's eating dinner consistently on Tuesday night at 6:30 and people who ask if you ever turned in that paper about the US-Israeli relationship. Home is the nights my best friend and I crammed into one twin bed, and the midnight adventures around the dorm to find out what floor that cute boy lives on. Home also means chapter meetings and and pasta dinners and having people who bring you paper flowers post-recital.

I'm ready to get out of here for a little while, to be home with family and to celebrate Christmas. But as excited as I am to head back to New Jersey, in three weeks from now I'll be coming back home. 2015 looked good on you, Hop.

My December/Holiday Wishlist

To end my gift guide series, today I'm covering my holiday wishlist aka just things that I've had my eye on or find interesting. Sorry there are so many shoes, mom.

TURTLENECK SWEATER | This is pretty self-explanatory. There is nothing better in this world than turtleneck sweaters, and I particularly love the deep cranberry and florescent pink colors of this J.Crew style.

FUN RINGS | I haven't really gotten into experimenting with rings, but I love the way they look on others, particularly with a fresh manicure. I have been eyeing the BaubleBar Matrix ring for such a long time now - I think it would be the perfect piece to kick off my ring collection.

BEAUTY BLENDER | Mostly because I always apply foundation and concealer with my fingers, and I'm wondering how it would apply with a damp sponge instead.

LEATHER BAND WATCH | I wear my rose gold Michael Kors watch every single day, but some outfits call for a more sleek, sophisticated watch, and the leather band adds that classic touch.

SUEDE SKIRT | Suede is so popular right now, and I think this skirt would take me back to my elementary school days. Plus, I have been head over heels with anything inspired by the 1970s, so it seems like an obvious choice.

SIGNET RING | Another piece I have been longing to have for quite some time now is a monogrammed signet ring. So traditionally preppy that it's almost a little insane, but I love it.

CHELSEA BOOTIES | While I absolutely love my black heeled booties, sometimes my feet need a break, and black Chelsea booties with a flat heel are the way to go.

LACE UP FLATS | Next in line to "I've never worn a pair of leggings" is that I've never really owned ballet flats. Shocking, I know. But the idea of lace up flats is a tad more unexpected, and it's a trend I think I can actually get behind, unlike plain ballet flats.

BLACK SWEATER | I own a very simple white sweater and I wear it all the time (I really do mean all. the. time.) I think having a black one as well would be great since I know I'll get a ton of use out of it. I can already think of 100 different styling ideas.

LEATHER SNEAKERS | I wrote a whole post about how much I love my friend's leather sneakers. The quilting on these Steve Madden kicks adds a little bit of girly flair to them. So cute.

FAUX FUR VEST | Another fall and winter staple for the #basicpreppygirl. This adds a whole new level of texture and dimension to an outfit.

ABALONE EARRINGS | These Kendra Scott abalone shell earrings make me swoon. They're more of a summer item, but I can't wait for the day when they're finally mine!

BURT'S BEES CHAPSTICK | It's pretty much standard at this point that I'll get Burt's Bees in my stocking at Christmas. I'm already running low on my last tube (sad face) so this gift may come a little early this year.

MINI MAB TOTE | I'm not a huge purse person, just because I don't think they're very practical in college. However, I can't get my mind off the Mini MAB tote from Rebecca Minkoff. I'm dreaming of one in an eye-catching color instead of a neutral so that it adds a pop and stands out no matter where I go.

MAKEUP BRUSHES | I have a few makeup brushes that I swear by, but are super old and definitely need to be replaced. Nothing fancy here - I love the Sonia Kashuk brush sets that you can find at Target!!

FLANNEL SHIRT | This particular J.Crew flannel is so on point. I love the white base and the oversized plaid. It's not your stereotypical Christmas plaid (which I also love) and think that it can add nice variety to your wardrobe while still being comfy and warm.

PLEASURE READING BOOKS | I actually like reading, when it's not a textbook and when it's something interesting or motivating. Mindy Kaling is hilarious and I'm sure her books are just as great!

CHRISTMAS SWEATER | It goes without saying that everyone should at least have one ugly Christmas sweater. This one is perfect because it is designed to be super vintage and ugly, and so it will never go out of style. Which is relative because, ya know, it's an ugly Christmas sweater.

WALL CALENDAR | Wall calendars are very important to me, both for keeping track of what I do every day and also for aesthetic purposes. It's a little tradition  in my family to get a new calendar every year on Christmas day!

NEW BALANCE CLASSIC SNEAKERS | The only athletic shoes that I can rock with jeans, for when you need more support than Converse and more style than Asics.

BLOCK MONOGRAM | I love my script monogram, and a circle block monogram is just about as edgy as I can get. I love it's more modern look.

CRYSTAL PENDANT | Once again, Jacqui gets the shoutout for rocking her crystal pendant on the reg. I became obsessed with it and of course, need my own now.

IVORY DRIVING MOCCASINS | Another summer-y item on my list are these driving moccasins. I remember back in high school seeing this girl with impeccable style rocking them and the image has not left my head since. Be it white, ivory, or even light pink, a pair of soft pastel driving mocs will find its way into my wardrobe sooner or later.

ANTLER JEWELRY DISH (OR JUST ANYTHING ANTLER THEMED) | I saw this antler jewelry dish in another blogger's gift guide and I think it's the cutest thing. Also gold deer heads are a huge thing in wall decor now, and I might actually be falling for them.

GOLD NAIL POLISH | I love the Fall 2015 collection that Essie released, and this bronze-y gold was the shade that stood out to me most. I'm curious what it would look like on the nails.

NUDE LIPSTICK | Over the past few months I have begun to accumulate a lipstick collection ranging from almost-black to cotton candy pink. I haven't found a good nude yet, but Revlon Super Lustrous is my go-to so I'm sure they make a shade I will love.

CAMEL COCOON COAT | Camel coats scream grown up sophistication to me, and I love the idea of wearing a long coat in the winter with a dress or pants and heels. The cocoon shape of this coat is a bit more unexpected than a traditional peacoat, and I love it so much.

That's it for this holiday gift guide!! I hope that you were all able to find something that worked for this year's gift giving. Since today is the last day of classes, I'll be taking a short hiatus during finals so that I can focus my energy on studying. I'll be back when I get home, though! Happy holidays and happy finals period, everyone xoxo

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $35 (Perfect for Best Friends!!)

Let's talk small gifts, perfect for your friends this holiday season!

COLORING BOOK | These adult coloring books are all the rage right now and it's easy to understand why. Coloring is actually super fun and can relieve stress because of how mindless the work is. At least for me, picking the colors and making the designs look nice is one of my favorite parts of coloring, and I love the detail that goes into paisley and mandala patterns. We bought my friend a coloring book for her birthday (although it was Disney princess themed, to be honest) and she absolutely loved it - I think this gift would be great for a large variety of people!

NOTECARDS | Having a set of notecards is always important. You never know when you may need to thank someone or write a quick note to your grandmother, and having a nice set of notecards can make you feel so grown up. Every once in a while I have to break out notecards to write a nice handwritten note, and I feel so much better than if I were to send an email or write on a piece of plain paper. This gift can be cute and useful too, which makes it perfect for almost anyone!

STEMLESS WINE GLASSES | These holiday themed wine glasses are oh-so-cute!! There are certainly a lot of wine lovers out there and these glasses would be a hit with sooo many people. Plus I love the idea of stemless glasses because I always worry about how fragile the stems are, particularly with college students who don't always take the best care of things.

PHONE CASE | Phone cases are a great way to accessorize and add personality to your outfit. They come in so many patterns and colors that you can always find something that works, whether you're aiming for funny or chic. I'm actually laughing at myself for picking this bee phone case, since my best friend is highly allergic and terrified of bees, and yet whenever I look for whimsical gifts for her I somehow end up in bee-territory.

CANDLE | Okay, so I know we're not supposed to have candles in our dorm rooms, but for those that can, candles are a great gift. They certainly add a home-y vibe and make a space feel more cozy and welcoming. Yankee Candle and Bath and Body Works have a ton of great options for the fall and winter time which would be perfect to give as gifts for your friends (especially during B&BW's great sales, you can get a lot of candles at a really great price!)

DESK CALENDAR | Rifle Paper Co makes really incredible paper goods, including notecards, journals and calendars. This desk one is adorable and showcases unique artwork to represent some of the world's most famous and beautiful cities. These also come in wall calendar format and are simply chic - their style of graphic design is really popular right now and is popping up everywhere. Calendars are ideal for the busy college girl who needs to keep track of all she has going on!

NECKLACE | I was searching online for my sister when I came across this necklace - which I absolutely adore. One of my good friends and sorority sisters has an awesome crystal pendant necklace (Hi Jacq!!) and ever since I saw her wearing one I have kept my eyes out for a great crystal necklace. This one from Nordstrom is great because the blue color is just a little different, the gold fringe is so on-trend, and the price point cannot be beat! I hope to see this one in stores when I go shopping.

NAIL POLISH SET | I don't know how, but college girls are always managing to do their nails, and we love to share polishes. Sets are great because you can always give them to one nail-obsessed bestie, or you can split up the set and give a different color to each friend a super mini stocking stuffer.

JEWELRY DISH | As I've mentioned before, I love jewelry dishes. They are great for keeping your most worn pieces out so that you can grab them quickly, and they add a nice decorative touch. I bought a jewelry tray over the summer and I'm actually surprised at how much I use it. This little dog tray is the perfect addition to any room and is just the right size.

EARRINGS | Wow am I in love with these constellation earrings. I'm not a super huge fan of ear crawlers or mismatched earrings, but if I were to try out the trend, this is how I would do it. These are simply fabulous and would make a great gift for a friend who really loves accessorizing or simply has a passion for the stars and space. Honestly the perfect gift.

MONOGRAMMED KEYCHAIN | I recommend these keychains all the time and think that they are super cute because they can be customized. You can totally mix it up by using a favorite color combo or even university colors for a friend and making the piece really special to them. Plus it's something that everyone can use and love!

CHRISTMAS SOCKS | This one shouldn't need an explanation, but I'll go ahead and be brief - Christmas socks rock and they are just the most fun, silly, cheeky gift ever. Especially if you're obsessed with Christmas. Which you should be. My dance team has a Christmas party every year where we do a sock exchange and I'm crossing my fingers that I can get/give some pretty festive socks this year. Plus the Nutcracker pair I showed above is on my wishlist - I want to wear them with leggings and Converse and be totally obnoxious about the fact that yes, my socks have little soldiers on them.

Holiday Gift Guide: Men

For part two of my Holiday Gift Guide, let's talk about what to get the men in your life.

TIE | Ties are a standard gift, but lots of fun patterns and colors can make them a little more interesting. Opt for a festive Christmas plaid or a design with their university logo so that it's a bit more personalized to the individual.

COFFEE TABLE BOOK | Some guys simply love coffee table books about their favorite things! Cars, movies, whatever they are interested in - you can find a coffee table book about it. I know some guys who could spend hours looking at these and learning more about their favorite topics. They'll make a great addition to any man's library.

CUFF LINKS | Cuff links are a super fun way to add a personal touch to dress attire. These racecar cuff links are so cute and I think they add the perfect silly touch without being too over the top. There are tons of great options for cuff links if you're looking to get them for the men in your life!

PERSONALIZED FLASK | For the over-21-years-old dude, a needlepoint flask is such a fun gift idea! I think it would make a great gift because it can be personalized with initials or even a picture of something they love, and it's not something most guys would buy for themselves.

WATCH | I don't think you can ever go wrong with watches. This one in particular can be worn daily and matches every outfit, making it the perfect piece. Plus, Daniel Wellington is so popular right now and his styles are timeless, so you know that it can be worn for years to come and will never go out of style.

BOTTLE OPENER | This golf bar bottle opener is super fun! It's so small which makes it easy to carry around on the go, and it's a bit more fun than a traditional and plain bottle opener. Once again, these come in a variety of styles - my friends have this one and they think it is absolutely hilarious!

KEY FOB | Guys always have a ton of keys and things to be carrying around, and I've noticed a lot more guys carrying keys on their belt loop or in their pockets. This monogrammed key fob can keep your keys in order, and easily clips on to a belt loop, duffel bag, or anything else!

SUNGLASSES | You can never go wrong with a pair of shades. The classic Ray-Ban aviators are great for guys because they are always in style and can be worn no matter what his fashion style.

WALLET | I've given wallets as gifts to guys before, and they are always a huge hit! It's such an essential and something guys get lazy about buying when their old wallet starts to fall apart, so it makes a fabulous gift and your guy will thank you!

COLOGNE | Once again, cologne is a classic. Having a signature scent is so nice and who doesn't love a guy that smells great? It's like a gift that keeps on giving - he'll think of you when he wears this cologne, and you'll have a guy that smells AMAZING.

Holiday Gift Guide: Women

Welcome to my Holiday Gift Guide series for 2015!! Today's post is all about what to get the women in your life, from moms to sisters, to even best friends or yourself.

PEACE SIGN DECOR | I think this is absolutely cheeky and adorable! I've been thinking about how I would want to redecorate my room at home or ways I may want to spice up my apartment next year, and I think this cute peace sign would look absolutely fabulous on a coffee table or nightstand. How cute!

RING | BaubleBar came out with a few rings along the same line as their Mason Ring, and I am in love with them. This style is great because it's so simple and has no rhinestones or embellishments, and yet it is unique because of its spacey design.

PERFUME | Perfumes are always a great gift to give because they can be very personal and there are so many to choose from. I love all of Marc Jacobs's scents and love the packaging too! If you're hesitant about what perfume to buy, I suggest the Sephora Favorites Perfume Sampler so that your gift recipient can try out multiple fragrances and redeem a full size of their favorite one!

PLEASURE READING | It's difficult to get pleasure reading done during the year when things are busy and people are in school. However, breaks are a great time to crack open a new book, and I think Mindy Kaling's book would be a great choice! I haven't read it myself, but I know that it's what I'll be choosing to read over winter break.

LUXURY LIPSTICK | For your makeup addict, a fancy lipstick line one of Nars's Lip Pencils would be the perfect addition to their collection.

BLANKET SCARF | Who doesn't love a good blanket scarf?! One part scarf, one part blanket, and in every plaid to exist. There's bound to be an option for everyone! And they keep you sooo cozy when it's chilly outside.

LACE UP FLATS | These flats are super cute and totally on trend. Great for any shoe lover, they will add the perfect touch of uniqueness and pizzazz to an otherwise simple winter outfit. They're also much more interesting that a Plain Jane ballet flat, making them totally worth the buy.

BOLD EARRINGS | I live in these Kate Spade earrings. They match just about everything and come in every color in the spectrum (even glitter). I don't know a single person who wouldn't love to receive a pair of these; they instantly make any outfit just a little bit dressier.

GEODE BOOKENDS | Another houseware purchase, geode bookends are unexpected but girly and whimsical. The bright colors add a pop to any room and they can really spice up a bookshelf or bedroom for an extra touch of chicness. These really get to the Environmental Science major in me *heart eyes*

SUNGLASSES | How cool are these Illesteva sunglasses? Their styles are becoming so popular with sunglass fans, and there are so many combos of frame and lens colors to mix and match. I love these bold green lenses because they give off a mysterious, X-Ray vision type look. I think Kim Possible could totally rock these.

JEWELRY TRAY | Jewelry trays are fantastic because they can be used in any and every way! Great for keys, earrings, or other odds and ends, everyone can find a home for a jewelry tray. The white and gold makes it super fab.

Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! Tomorrow is going to be a day full of family, food, and thankfulness and so I wanted to take a minute to remind myself of all the things I am so incredibly thankful for.

I am so happy to be home this week with my family, relaxing and spending time catching up in the middle of a hectic semester. The week is already flying by so fast, but I know that soon enough I'll be home again to celebrate Christmas and have a longer stay back home. Taking a "break" from work is really great and I love being with my parents and sister (and my brother of course, but he goes to school with me #woohoo #twinlove).

As much as I love being home, I have started to miss my friends back at school and hope that they have safe, healthy, and happy holidays with their families as well. I can't wait to see them again and fall back into our usual Tuesday night dinner, Sunday chapter meeting, and casual hanging out routine so that we can chat about everything that we missed while we were home.

Theta's formal is coming up the week we return to school, and so I've been thinking a lot about how Theta has shaped me over the past year. My outlook on life has certainly changed dramatically and I have learned so much about myself and my aspirations through Theta. I'm itching to get back to campus and go through recruitment on the Panhellenic side of things!! I hope that all the freshmen and Potential New Members find their home and grow to be as in love with their sorority as I am with mine.

It's been wonderful to take this week to reflect on the things I am thankful for and remember to appreciate things that I often take for granted. I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving and spend the day doing something fun! Do you have any cool Thanksgiving Day traditions?

Turkey Day

The past few weeks, I've been browsing the Internet with the hopes of finding the perfect outfit to wear on Thanksgiving. With hundreds of capes, red sweaters, jeans, and heels in all sorts of combinations, and after looking at every pattern of blanket scarf to exist, I think I've found the style inspiration for what I'm going to wear this coming Thursday.

Pairing a tissue thin turtleneck under a sweater dress is not something I would have thought to wear, but after seeing it on Caitlin Covington, I knew that this would be the look to rock for Thanksgiving. Sweater dresses are great because they are 1) so in season, 2) always fashionable, and 3) save room for extras (and pumpkin pie!)

Here's a look at how Caitlin wore this outfit:

(source)

I am such a fan of this look and know that I will be wearing it again and again once I'm back to school for those chilly autumn days at the end of the semester! I'll even throw on black tights and a chunky scarf for when it gets really cold. How do you like to stay warm fashionably?

Pout or Polish?

I was thinking the other day about just how much I hate red nail polish. I can't tell you why, and I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to why this is, but I just absolutely don't understand the idea of wearing bright red nail polish on your fingers. I have plenty of friends who love the shade, and more power to them, but I can't remember a single time when I've walked into the nail salon and thought, "Huh, I think I'll get red nail polish today."

This got me thinking about how I choose to embrace boldness as part of my beauty routine, and I realized that I would much prefer to rock a bold lip than a bedazzled manicure. While I still shy away from dark lips sometimes because I feel as though they are so attention-drawing in a school setting, I do love putting a dark berry or wine, bright reds, and all shades of hot pink on my lips.

Yet when it comes to my nails, I almost always opt for a neutral shade. Even in the summer time, I tend to reach for Mod About You by OPI instead of a hot pink or coral (The bright, almost white-ish pink looks amazing with a tan!!). Beiges, grays, and neutral darks are my go-to nail polish shades most of the time. Just ask my mom, who literally hunted down Essie's Spin the Bottle after I realized it was the perfect nude.

Whether you choose to deck out your lips or your nails, the fall is a great time to experiment and try something new. Who knows, maybe I'll even opt for a red mani?!

Which do you prefer - fun lipsticks or unique nail polish?

Sleep Chic + Stay Cozy

sleep chic

Today I'm talking about my favorite ways to have a comfortable, cozy night in during the winter time. In just a few weeks, I'll be home for winter break and it's insane how quickly this semester has flown by!! For nice relaxing nights this winter, here are some of my favorite tips.

ONE | Pick up a good book
I never have much time for pleasure reading during the school year, but when I'm home for breaks I enjoy reading things that aren't for school. This winter, I hope to finally read Mindy Kaling's books - I've heard so many great things from friends!

TWO | Pamper yourself with new makeup and beauty products
I don't know about you, but buying new makeup is always so fun for me. Especially during the winter time, it's so nice to purchase a new dark lipstick, a great new body lotion (#dryskin), or an amazing bath product.

THREE | Host a girl's night in with your friends
Having a fun night with friends to simply eat snacks, watch movies, gossip, pamper, and be girly is always needed when you're home for breaks. I love having little Christmas or holiday get-togethers with my girlfriends and staying cozy during our time home.

FOUR | Treat yourself to luxurious sleepwear
I recently came across the website Adore Me, which has an extensive line of lingerie, undergarments, sleepwear, and more! With just a few clicks through a short quiz, you're signed up for their monthly subscription service to all things lingerie and sleepwear! Having beautiful new pajamas or underwear always makes me feel chic when I'm getting ready for bed. I picked out a few of my favorite items above, from robes to lounge pants to pajama sets! Pajama sets are my absolute favorite in the winter time for staying warm and looking chic. I always opt for a pajama set on Christmas morning and they make me feel so grown up (yay adulting).

FIVE | Chill out with some Netflix
There is nothing better than a good movie or TV show for having a cozy night in during the winter time. I'm working my way through Gilmore Girls (yes I still haven't finished), and I can NOT wait to watch it more once I am home. Having a go to show or movie is one of my favorite things to do when I just want some nice, quiet alone time. Add blankets and you're all set!

SIX | Build a warm fire
If you think there is anything better than a warm fire in the winter time, you're absolutely wrong. Fires are the epitome of coziness and winter warmth, and building a fire is a great way to get comfortable and relax before bedtime. The sound of a fire crackling and glowing the the background while I'm cuddled on the couch or bed is my idea of the perfect winter night inside.

SEVEN | Try a new winter beverage
Instead of opting for your usual tea or coffee, there are so many incredible ways to spice up your drink this winter time. A warm tea or coffee with the right add-ins can take your drink to a whole new level and keep you warm from the inside out. I love beverages with cinnamon, peppermint, or gingerbread in the winter, and there are so many different drinks to try, either at your local coffee shop or at home! Experiment with something new and you just might find your new go-to winter drink.

Christmas Playlist

If you're anything like me, you love Christmas time!! I wanted to share my Spotify Christmas playlist with you all because I'm pretty sure it's on point and the most comprehensive list of every song that exists.. Let me know if there are any great Christmas songs missing.

Which do you prefer - modern versions or the old school originals for Christmas songs? I prefer the originals! One of my favorite Christmas songs is O Come All Ye Faithful sung in Latin by Nat King Cole (and of course anything sung by Josh Groban!)

Fall Fancy

This past weekend my Theta chapter decided to have our fall photoshoot. We all dressed in maroon and mustard (I was one of the few who dared to wear this quirky yellow shade), and the photos came out unbelievably cute! We took the photos from 3-5 PM, right during the Golden Hour, and the lighting was so great that my friends decided I needed blog photos then and there. Thank you so much to Kate who took these beautiful photos!!

I love this outfit so much because it combines a few things I really love for the colder months - big plaid, turtlenecks, and dark lips! I've already worn this skirt a bunch of times and have styled it so many different ways. Plus this turtleneck is a classic that you can dress up or down depending on the occasion! I'm so glad I had this mustard cardigan stashed away in my closet because it came in handy and really pulled the look together.

Merry Christmas, Ya Filthy Animal

Happy post-Halloween, everybody! This time of the year is filled with so many great traditions, and one of them is the ugly Christmas sweater. Every winter, my dance company hosts a super fun holiday party, and this year I want to wear a tacky sweater! I've always wanted to own a goofy Christmas sweater, and even think that some of the silly options are more cute than stereotypically ugly. I compiled some of my favorites below - both men's and women's, because I feel that these sweaters are overall pretty unisex - and I have to say I'm really digging the snowman face and the crazy wrapped-in-tinsel sweater! Do you love the ugly Christmas sweater tradition too?

Stella & Dot Trunk Show

Stella and Dot has some incredibly beautiful pieces that I always eye via social media or worn on other bloggers. I was so, so excited when our Service and Philanthropy Director, Lizzy, informed my chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta that we would be hosting a trunk show with the company, and that 20% off all proceeds would go toward our national philanthropy!

I have been browsing the webpage for the trunk show looking at all the cute baubles, and loved the woman Leah who was our stylist for the event!! We bonded over blogging, pretty jewels, and branding over social media. Check out some of my favorite items from the trunk show, and get shopping!!

These picks are my favorite from the trunk show and they are definitely on my wish list! Stella and Dot is great because their variety of products can match any personality or style, great for every single woman on your shopping list this holiday season! I'm seriously eyeing that Pearl Spike Ring - I love that it's adjustable so it will always fit!

6 Things to Keep You Healthy at College

What do you do when you start to feel that cold coming on? Even if you didn't catch the Freshmen Plague within the first two months, as the weather cools down there is always some reason or another than illness breeds on college campuses. I'm writing this from my bed right now, as I manage an oncoming sore throat, cough, and potential fever, and so I'm here to share some ways to stay healthy and keep the sickness out, or at least fight it if you're already feeling under the weather.

Who else loves the new emojis!?

1 // Really utilize your Vitamin C
Whether it be orange juice, Emergen-C tablets, or something else, your body needs to get the right amount of Vitamin C to fight illness. If you feel a cold coming on, or all your friends are starting to get sick, make sure you protect your body by stocking up on Vitamin C which will attack germs and boost your immune system.

2 // Stop sharing and sanitize
I'm just as guilty as every other college student for sharing snacks, taking a sip of my friends beverage, or constantly being around people who are feeling under the weather. While not always intentional, it's important to give ourselves some distance when we're not feeling well, and to make sure that we're keeping things sanitary as to not spread the germs around.

3 // Sweat it out!
As we all know, toxins can be sweat out through your body. Most of the time, I like to sweat out my toxins by exercising, but when I'm feeling ill, exercise often makes me lightheaded or can leave me feeling worse. In this case, sweat out those nasty germs by bundling up under lots of layers and blankets when you go to bed at night. You'll feel super gross when you wake up, but a nice relaxing shower in the morning will leave you feeling much better than you were the night before.

4 // Hydrate your body
Water is so important and we often forget about it! Always be hydrating your body by carrying a water bottle with you. I am much more likely to drink water if I have a water bottle in hand, and this will help keep you healthy. While water has a plethora of benefits, it can also help flush your system and keep you germ and illness free!

5 // Maintain a balanced diet
Similarly to water, we frequently forget about all the fruits and veggies we should be eating while on a college dining plan. Make time to swap your normal pasta or taco bowl for salad every once in a while, to maintain healthy levels of all those important vitamins and minerals!!

6 // Get lots of sleep
On a college timetable, sleep is often the one thing we go without so that everything else can get done. However, this is harmful to our bodies and can cause you to spiral further and further into the feeling-sick abyss. Make sure to get lots of sleep and formulate a schedule, that way you're not always up until 2 AM working on projects. Try your best to get to bed by or before midnight every day.

Winter Whites

Winter Whites

sunglasses // earrings // bucket bag // watch // necklace // lipstick

Not wearing white after Labor Day seems like a silly idea to me. A while back I used to stick to it for the sake of tradition and because people can be #judgy, but who cares! I love the way white looks in the winter paired against a crisp, snowy backdrop. I've wanted a white peacoat or winter jacket for years and it took some solid convincing that there was no way it could stay as white as I would like, but I'm determined that in time, I'll add a white peacoat to my wardrobe. In the meantime, I'll stick to these classic white jeans and add some depth to the look with a think knit sweater and suede booties! How do you wear white in the winter?

My Favorite Things: Leather Sneakers

Hi there guys! This past weekend was soooo busy and I unfortunately didn't get to draft as many blog posts as I wanted, so I'm coming to you with a quick post today.

While I didn't have a ton of time to write up posts, I did however see some friends, and I fell IN LOVE with the leather slip on sneakers my friend Mary has been wearing a ton recently! I think they're so chic and the perfect mix between an edgier look and a classic style. Check out my favorites below and see how I would style them!
